icon_cry.gif Okay, I posted earlier about making a fondant loop bow for a cake tonite. I couldn't wait for the loops to dry so I decided to put them in the oven with the light on, like everyone suggested. So I waited until the oven cooled from baking my cakes, put them on cookie sheets and turned the light on. WELL, stupid me didn't take into account that JUST because the oven felt cool, doesn't mean the racks are... so I melted all of my fondant loops. Okay, I decide on another cake design. A scaled down version of the Wilton Tower of Flowers... Well, I'm getting ready to assemble, and drop a cake on the floor icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif ... Okay, now it'll be 3 layers, not 4. Oh yeah, forgot to mention the filling... I made raspberry filling last nite, wake up this morning and it is not thick enough, so I slowly reheat and add more cornstarch. Go to use it on the cake and it is STILL not thick enough. I figure that as long as I put a thin layer of buttercream on the cake it won't soak through. Boy did that work. I put the dam of icing along the edges of the cake, no problem. Start crumb coating and here comes the red filling out of the sides... Because it was thin, and hadn't soaked through it caused my cakes to shift and what a mess that made. So I call hubby and ask him to get me 2 white cake mixes so I can start all over again... He is on his way home anyway... Okay, he gets home, I go to the bag and inside I find 2 cans of Duncan Hines FROSTING!!!!!!!!! AAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! What else can go wrong??? I ask hubby about the mixup and he swears that is what I said icon_confused.gif ... I NEVER use store bought frosting. Anyway, sweetie that he is just ran out to get me more cake mix. If this were not for my best friend I would be going to the store to buy one!!! Thanks for letting me vent...
