Can someone plz tell me how bakeries and bakers sell character cakes if its illegal? I'm dying to know. I never knew they were illegal to sell until coming here. I think most ppl are unaware of it. My Wilton instructor wasn't even sure about it when I brought it up in class this week. icon_eek.gif

I think that they buy mass produced charactors that are made for the purpose of cake decorating.

I know that with the Wilton cake pans, they are just for personal use, just as say a DVD when you rent it. You can watch it, but not copy it.

Bakeries are able to buy items from distributors that have an agreement with the licensed "Character." Therefore, the distribor they bought it from already paid the licensing fee for the character. I hope you understood that.
