Saving Pictures On Your Computer.
Decorating By darkchocolate Updated 17 Jul 2007 , 6:46pm by darkchocolate
Does anyone save pictures from the gallaries onto your computer? I have done that so when CC is down, I still can look at what I need to for inspiration and guidance. I always, include the CC member so I can give credit if I make that cake. I do save pictures in "My Favorite Photos" also, but saving them on my computer is just a second measure to make sure I can see the picture when I need to.
Well, today I can't save anything. It comes up "space" and leaves a blank picture. I thought it was my computer so I shut it down and still have the same problem. My sister sent me a picture of a cake she liked and I had no problem saving that cake on my computer.
I was just wondering if anyone else has been having this problem or can help me?
Thanks,
darkchocolate
It's not just you. After reading your post, I tried to save one to my computer and the same thing happened. I hope they haven't done this on purpose, I save the ones I like to my hard drive, too, so that I can look at them for inspiration. Anyone know what's going on?

IF and mind you that's IF! this is a result of recent "concerns" -- let's see that last one was a 17 pages over 2 threads flogging a dead horse hissy-fit...
then i suggest we all go look in the mirror at the source of the problem.
we have only ourselves to blame
1) for not taking proper care of others photos when we save them
2) for not giving proper credit where credit is due.
3) for brow beating, running into the ground, kicking a dog when it's down, flogging a dead horse --
in short -- being MERCYLESS -- to someone who makes a mistake -- even an honest mistake.
I for one am sadden IF - and mind you IF -- it is this case that this is a new policy to prevent future contretemps as there goes all my work on the templates down the drain.
Hopefully, this is but another time to kick the server glitch.
I wasn't trying to whine or moan or drag my fingernails across anything, and I have never read any of the other posts b*tching about people saving pictures or copying other's work. I do, however, hope that all those things haven't caused them to put a stop to saving the pictures. But, as Doug said, no one will no for sure until there has been some sort of announcement.

If the problem or reason is because of the recent cake picture "theft", how hard or easy is it to use the watermarks (I think it is called) on our pictures? Maybe that would solve the problem of picture theft.

I just tried to save a pic. and mine did the same thing. I hope this is just a "bug" and not something perm. I also save in the galleries and on my computer, in case CC is down. I am new at cake decorating and self taught. So I use pics to learn color combos, borders, and placement of flowers. I may take the border of one, and the flowers of another, and colors of another to make a cake. I have never copied a cake but I have only done a handful anyway. It sure has helped me alot to have the pics. to go by.
I hope in this case it wont be "the innocent suffer because of the guilty!" ![]()

Geez....what do y'all care if a thread gets to be 17 pages. I saw one that was almost 500 pages. I just didn't go in there and if you don't like what's being said in a thread that seems like the reasonable thing to do. Some of us had legitimate concerns about that incident- which by the way has not been resolved.
This post seemed rude and judgemetal to me. The poster was asking a sincere question and you answered it with condescending sarcasm making belittling digs at other members. Is that nice?
And if "on high" as you so politely put it, has decided to do something about the picture theft maybe you should blame those perfectly innocent people who do the stealing and not the people who have their pictures stolen and make the "huge mistake" of talking about it.
Some people have made such a huge crusade of defending the infringers that they are rude to everyone else.
DarkChocolate - I wish I knew the answer to your question but I don't. If it is because of a problem with the board then I trust that it is being worked on. I didn't mean to hijack your thread.
To those that are inquiring about watermarking you can download a free program called Umark Lite. I use it and the only problem with it is, since it is the free version it puts a little splash in the lower left hand corner (see photos in gallery for example) that says umarklite. No big deal because it's so small and I really don't care lol. But if it bothers you, you can buy the paid copy of the program.
You can also put text across your photos by using Paint but as you can see in some of my older pictures it fades the text ones you save it as a jpg which is the needed format for uploading to CC. I highly recommend getting umark lite it's a great program, very easy to use, and you can choose many different fonts to use
If anyone would like screen shots of how easy it is just PM me I'd gladly give you a walk thru ![]()
I'm glad you asked this question! I thought it was just me. I've gotten around it a bit by doing a print screen, pasting it on a publisher page and then cropping the image. Its not the best but I can still see whatever it was that attracted me to the photo in the first place. I've done this with several cake sites also and since I do not copy anyone else's work I am doing no wrong.
Having done freelance photography for my living in the past, I totally respect the amount of heart and effort that goes into a person's creation.
I for one love Cake Central because i could print ideas and other photos for inspiration. If this IS something done purposly by cake central, i will no longer have a need to use the site.
According to another thread, this will be cleared up hopefully by tonight. Heath posted to another thread related to this subject.
