Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could help me with a couple of cake toppers. How would I put pinstripes on the male suit and how would I make the drapes on the dress. I'm going to try and add the pics of the dress and the suit.
Any help on figures would be great, Ta in advance.

Leigh

I am assuming you mean gumpaste or fondant? i am not too sure!

If it is that then you can thin a little bit of your color with vanilla flavoring and it makes a nice paint. Hope this is what you're looking for!?

Hi
These figures are actually made with claydough which is inedible - a form of polymer clay.
I make many many figures - sugar and clay - If I can be any help please pm me.

Here is a link to my website showing lots of figures.

They are really really good for your first attempt. I must admit mine were always really fat and dumpy when I first started making them. Even now I still tend to make things too big.
I made a couple yesterday and they wanted their dogs with them - made the couple - fine. Made the dogs last night - placed them next to the couple and the larger of the dogs looked like a small horse next to the groom!! Ah well back to the drawing board.

I always find sugar models tend to get fatter overnight too. I finish them and they look OK - next morning they seems to have shrunk in height and are fatter. [perhaps they raid the refrigerator overnight!!!!]

OMG cakes, they are fantastic. I love the dogs. Don't think they are too big. Is it just practice or are you a natural because I had a look at your web page and they were spectacular. Do you make a body and then put clothes on after or do you shape the body in the clothes colour? did that make sense. How do you get the ripples and lace in the wedding dress?

Hi
I have now moved on to polymer clay rather than sugar as I find it much better to work with - plus the added bonus that the bride and groom can keep their topper indefinitely.

I make an armature using sculpey ultra light - just found this a coupe of weeks ago and it is brilliant. Makes such a light but strong armature. Then this is baked. I can then dress them much easier and you can get lots of detail using the clay.

I've never made these, but could you put your striping liquid on a piece of thread and sort of stamp the clothing?
I would be very nervous to do that, but it might be worth trying on a scrap?
