Hi, I posted this elsewhere on the board -- I hope it is okay to post in another forum because I really need help!

I need to know what the baking time and oven temp is for the Wilton double tier round cake pan. I hope someone has the instruction book and can look for me? The instruction booklet is in the downloads section here, but the baking time and temp page isn't one of the pages shown there! Help!!

I checked on www.cakepans4less.com and they have the cake instructions but not the baking time and temp. Maybe email the woman who runs that site? I've emailed her before and gotten a quick response.

MaryAtk, I have the directions for this 1986 retired pan!!  It says 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes "or until it tests done."  (Instant- read thermometer should read 205-209 degrees in center). If necessary, slice off rounded top to make it sit level. Cool 10 minutes in pan. Turn it out and let it cool at least one hour before decorating.

MaryAtk; almost any cake should be baked at a lower temp to advoid that hump that forms from high temps.   I bake all my cakes at 300 degrees F for about 20 minutes, then turn the oven up to 325 for about the same amount of time or until you can smell it in the next room :)   The amount of time does vary depending on the size of the pan.......but what you have is not one of the bigger pans so the 20 minutes each temp should apply.

I just baked this cake today (that's why I found the directions!) and did as you do, kakeladi.  It took much longer because of the reduced heat and the "bump" wasn't too bad.  I pushed it down a bit when the cake came out of the oven and had to slice off very little.  Cake is decorated and ready to go to my grandson's party tomorrow.  Not my favorite pan, but it suited what I needed it for today.
