Hi
Have been asked to do a "space" cake.. the girl wanted a diorama kind of cake -- not sure how i would do that one... but how hard would it be to do a planet cake from a ball tin? I've never worked with a ball tin and the thought of it scares me! but as always, never shy of a challenge...

any suggestions??

TIA

How about using pieces of rectangle shaped cake to make the sides of the diorama box and then suspend fondant planets? Hope this makes sense.

do 1/2 balls.

cover cake board w/ black paper

arrange 1/2 balls of varying sizes like on one of those solar system maps.

deco balls to look like planets

use white icing and various size round and star tips to add stars.
