I am going to attempt to do a combined cake theme this weekend of penguins & golf so my thought was to make the igloo a golf ball... my question is how do you make the 'dimples' in the golf ball? I am going to use bc for the whole thing....then I will have a golfer along with penguins, unless I can configure a 'golfing penguin'. LOL Im not that good though! ha
Thanks for any help/suggestions icon_smile.gif

I would cover the cake surface with a Viva paper towel. Using the ball end of the tool I have for making fondant/gumpaste flowers, press lightly to make the indentations of the ball. Move the towel as needed to complete the whole ball. Just a thought. icon_smile.gif

regan I have one in my gallery, I covered it in fondant and used the opposite end of a wooden spoon and gently pressed into the fondant once I covered the cake to make the dimples. If you press too hard it will make them too deep, so try gentle at 1st on the back side of your cake to get the feel of it and once you do you will have the swing of it... they are fun to do, you will love it! Good luck!

For my golf ball cake I covered it in buttercream and let it crust nicely.
I then used the ball and veining tool to lightly indent the buttercream.
If you find it sticks too much, dust the surface of the buttercream with powdered sugar as you go. I also dipped the ball end of the tool in powdered sugar before every indentation to make sure it did not stick.

Great idea, using the powdered sugar to prevent sticking!

I have two golf theme cakes in my gallery. The golf ball on one was iced with buttercream. The other ball was made out of fondant. I used a florist pins to make the dimples on both.
