I'm so inspired by the pillow cakes I saw in the galleries, I'm going to try one today. I love the look of the luster dust on them but have never used this stuff. How do you get it on the fondant? Rub it on? Mix it with water and brush it on? knead it in? Help! I've only covered one cake in fondant before, so this will be a lot of "first" for me. Thanks.
I know some people use alcohol but I use clear vanilla extract. Just mix a few drops of extract with some luster dust and paint. If you look in my photos, you will see a blue oval cake whith gold medallions. The gold is the luster dust I painted on the fondant. Hope this helps. ![]()
that turned out very nice! Love it- I'm going to have to bite teh bullet and play around with fondant/MMF too in covering different shapes- you did a great job!
Just out of curiousity, was this just a 'play cake'? Who got to eat it? LOL
