What makes a German chocolate cake German? What is the difference between German Chocolate and Regular Chocolate? I am wanting to make German chocolate cake, using an extender. What flavoring do I add to keep the chocolate flavor? When I make the regular chocolate extender, I add cocoa and Vanilla. Do I just do the same with a German chocolate mix?

I am planning on using the traditional German Chocolate frosting as a filling with Butter cream frosting. Will that taste ok? I have to use BC because it is going to be a decorated cake.

Thanks
Stephanie

Ask a German and they will tell you there is no such thing. Ask an American and they will tell you it is a regular chocolate cake with a filling/topping that is caramel-y and includes pecans and toasted coconut and it is usually iced with chocolate buttercream.

Hi!
I am German and I don't know German Chocolate cake icon_wink.gif
I like Polish chocolate cake, but it is without cream.
