Has anyone heard of or used these? I have some issues in my wrists and can't operated the trigger-style sifters or the crank-style ones. I found a 4-cup capacity battery operated sifter on Amazon.com and the same one with a picture at

and was curious if anyone had any opinions either way.

Thanks!

Danielle

I remember these were popular in the 80's because my Gram thought she was the BOMB when she got hers icon_biggrin.gif Then I think they just sort of went away but I like the idea of it.... strainers give me a headache.

I had a small one, the vibration bothered my hand even more.

You can use a large open strainer to sift and it is much less work for your hands. Just add some or all of the sugar to the strainer, and shake it. If it doesn't start emptying, just tap the ring of the strainer with something like a wooden spoon.

I had one about 10 yrs ago, but that was when I was working full time & not "into" baking. It sat in the cabinet & the batteries rotted out the insides - thumbsdown.gif . Anyway, what little I did use it, I liked it. I really wish I had it now!

I have used these because I cannot use the others you described, either. I thought it would be great --- wrong. I even tried different brands, no difference. They are a big pain in the neck. Verrrrrrrry slow, and if you try to sift 4 cups at once it is even slower. Also, have to keep replacing batteries. I even bought an expensive brand battery, no difference. I just use one of those mesh sifters (the kind that look like thay are made from window screening) and a large bowl. Much faster and easy on the hands and wrists.
