I saw the Stepsaving Rose Bouquet Flower Cutter Set at the CC store. Will this work to make rose petals out of MMF and create MMF roses? Or is another product better for that?

It will work. I have used it alot, with MMF, and tootsie rolls.

I haven't used it on MMF, but it works great on fondant mixed with gum-tex or gum paste, or any mix of the two. This is the basic Wilton set that is used in Course 3 to teach the fondant rose. There is also a foam set for this that is very useful and the instructions are included in the cutter set.

NEWTODECORATING: I saw this in your gallery. Were these MMF roses done with the cutter? I have also been contemplating buying the cutter. These roses are beautiful on this cake. So, how were they done?

AAWWWHHH! You are soo sweet! Yes that was done with the time saving cutter. It was my first attempt at it. I almost want to delete that pic because I didn't know much about smoothing icing at that time and it really shows icon_eek.gif

I just got one of those during the Hobby Lobby 50% off coupon. Now I can't wait to try it icon_smile.gif

NEWTODECORATING: Never point out your flaws! I went back and looked at the picture just to see what you were talking about ... before that, I was just focused on the roses! If those were done with the rose cutter, then I'm getting one!

Dustbunny: I don't have a Hobby Lobby, but I always get AC Moore coupons for 40% off ... I'll have to see if they carry it. I kind of don't think they do; because I think I'd have bought it if I had seen it there.

they do work really well, the ones you can get from sugarcraft and other places aren't that different. It's the one that all the Wilton students use, and you can see their roses on my course 3 class page on my website. The AC Moore usually does carry them, and don't forget that most AC Moore's also take Michael's and Joannes or whatever competitors' coupons if you get those too!

Today my DH wanted to go to Circuit City ... right across from ACMoore, so I got my 50% coupon they were featuring this week and got the cutter. It was $7.99, so I only paid $4.00!

Alas, we spent a whole lot more at Circuit City!

that often happens for me too since they're in the same complex. The good thing about him getting new toys is that I can justify some, too for cake decorating! icon_lol.gif

Is this worth having in addition to the regular flower making set (32 piece)? Or is it duplication? TIA.

Could someone take a pic of the cutter & upload it here? I'm curious about it now that I've read this thread. I'm supposed to be making a tutorial today for a friend.. if there's an easier way to make the roses I'd like to get that tool too~ I enjoy making the roses they are just time consuming~ Thanks a lot~

Yeah it still takes me forever, but I also have the individual pedal cutters and I guess it is "stepsaving" compaired to that.
