Hi there! I'm making my first castle cake in a couple of days and I'm very excited about it! I was planning on covering ice cream cones with melted chocolate (pink candy melts), like so many of the cakes in the galleries. For those of you who have done that before, any tips on the easiest way to do it? Should I roll the cones in the melted chocolate (in a shallow dish or casserole plate)? Or just try to dip them into my Pyrex jug of melted chocolate? Or I even thought of standing them up (Christmas tree style) on a cooling rack over a bowl, and then pouring the melted chocolate over them? Thanks in advance!

I covered mine in icing. But to do it with melted chocolates I would think any of your plans should works just fine. .....never even thought of doing it that way!!!

i wouldnt do it when the choc is really hot, let it come to room temp and then dip...maybe wait for that to set up and dip again until you get a smoothe cover

Thanks for the suggestions. I think you're right, cakefairy, I probably will have to coat them more than once....any other suggestions?!
