I don't know if I'm more agitated at myself or what I saw...Well my DF and I went grocery shopping this morning...I saw a lady and her little 10-11 yr old boy...She wasn't wearing shoes but instead carrying them...And was so obviously tweaked (on meth) out...It was nuts...She had no clue where she was going and not only once but twice almost got hit by a car when her son had to basically save her stupid sorry butt...I was half tempted to call the Emergency down here...but I had no clue what to say...I don't know if they made it home safe...Or what in the world is going on...So lemme ask ya'll what would have you done in this situation...I just can't let this go to rest...And I feel so guilty cuz I should have done something but I didn't...
it was so sad...
she wasn't driving thankfully...but instead walking in the middle of the parking lot...right near the entrance...
First of all...you can't beat yourself up over not calling. Unfortunately, children all over the world are in horrible situations...so sad, but true. For future reference, it wouldn't have hurt to make a phone call. Who knows if anything would have been done, though. It's tough...Sorry you had to witness that!
I think I'd have done what you did ... mind my own business then not let it off my mind!
That is so sad...I feel sorry for the kid to have to live with a mother like that. He probably won't have her much longer either if she's that bad. I don't know if I'd be able to recognize someone on meth but if I knew, I'd be tempted to call someone. Then again, who would you call? 911??
I once was at a restaurant eating with my family. This guy came in already drunk but acting alright...ordered a couple margaritas and started getting loud and obnoxious...saying creepy things to the waitress in Spanish (Trying to any way. He was American). We were so glad when he left. We took our time in case anything were to happen because I had my cell phone. When he did leave, he had salsa or something on his face and didn't realize it, then forgot his keys on the counter when paying before leaving. When he did go, we saw him go get in his jeep and drive! ![]()
I tried calling 1800 GRAB DUI, which I remembered being on the backs of cop cars when I lived in Ohio but for some reason, that number didn't work...I was worried for the rest of the evening that he could have caused an accident.
A few weeks later, my husband saw him in the restaurant where he worked. He got carded by the manager and there was a thing on his license that proclaimed that he'd had 2 or 3 DUIs (I don't remember how many is the limit or anything) and he wasn't supposed to be driving, that the license was just an ID.
What a creep though.
it's just terrible...for quite sometime i was hanging out w/the worst crowd...
and i saw so much going on...i couldn't believe it...one of my x-husbands friends...locked herself in the restroom...while she did her drugs...while her lil one was outside the restroom screaming and crying for mommy...
i would love to be able to have kids...and can't wait to adopt a lil one that needs a mommy...

I never heard of that; but it sounds like a great idea that should be in every state!
we have a similar thing here...
it's *DUI...but i didn't think about that...and i wasn't sure if this would be the right situation or not...
i'm gonna have my DF look into programs similar to this...since he works for a member of Congress...something needs to be put out there...i don't even wanna imagine the life this kid has...
