What is a decorating icing tip that you could not decorate without? And, if you have the time - please, tell what you use that tip for?

This questions helps newbies like me - broaden their cake supplies, plu sit allows people to try tips that they may have never tried a certain techique with that tip.

Thank you all - I love CC!!!!!

I have no less than ten of tip 3 and tip 18. Tip 3 for all outlining, writing, and I fill in with it too, then spread it around with a tiny spatula to smooth it. Tip 18 is for star fill-in method, and shell and puff borders.

I cannot do without my #16 or #32. I use these tips to make different shell designs. I almost always rely on these tips. I have about 4 of each. icon_smile.gif

#98 is probably my Favorite tip...I use this ALOT when trimming around the tops and bottoms of my cakes...I'm not sure What you would call it lol....it looks like a 1/2 moon shape...but has ridges on the top curve of it.

#789------------its the BIG Basket Weave Tip...if you use it with the Smooth side up...it is soooooooo Awesome for covering the sides of your cakes easy and smoothly...and I also use this on the top of my cakes....i just make lines of icing...then smooth it all together.... Helps save me alot of time!

Writing tips...---I love #2 or 3 or 4 for writing on my cakes...
then #6 or 7 are great for filling in spaces of color...then i will smooth/blend it together .... for example when i'm filling in the white
part of an eye on a character ...or the black part...

Star Tips...I love alot of them...esp. the Larger ones....for doing borders/trims along the edges of my cakes....
I like #16 for doing the stars on my character cakes...

I also like #22 and 32 for doing trims around the top and bottoms of my cakes!

I just recently got some of the Bigger tips....such as tip 109...i think it makes a neat looking design...like a big flower...then i fill in the middle with another color!

Hope this helps
Kaye

I too have many #3 and #18 as I use them the most.
I really like #199 for borders #32 is nice too.
I also couldn't so without handy #104 and #67 for roses and leaves.
I like any of the #3-#12. I use these to fill in colors as I really don't like to do stars!

I use tips #2 & 3 for writting, #10 & 12 for balloons, #103 & 104 for roses, #352 for leaves, #16 & 21 for stars & rosette borders, #32 for curly E's, there are others, but these are mostly what I use for now.

Kaye, I have that tip! I don't use it enough. I wondered if it used less icing to get the same result since it's curved instead of solid.
