Does anyone in the Seattle area know where I can get an edible printed besides Albertsons? I need a specific Harry Potter pic for my daughters birthday next week, and Alberstons is being a pain. They suddenly have decided that they won't print anything that isn't in their program. Something about copyrighting....but it's for a personal cake, not for a customer.

I am desparate!!!! She picked this one out special, and is going to be really disappointed if I can't do it for her. If anyone is in my area and can help me out, I would appreciate it tons!!! I'm attaching what pic I need to print just so you can see what I mean.

Yes it was.....thank you so very much for it! I've checked and I found that Safeway will do it for me for only $5.00!! Woohoo!!

I told them about Alberstons snooty attitude and they laughed and said it's not the first time they have heard that. Oh well, they just lost customer and Safeway gained one!

Again thanks...it's soo great to know that we have such a community here that supports each other!!

I'm glad you got that all worked out. I checked Wal-mart and they charged $5.00 (although it is small icon_sad.gif ). Then I went to Sam's Club and they wouldn't sell it without putting in on one of their cakes icon_confused.gif . It seems like Sam's and Wal-mart would have the same policy.

They probably already pay royalties for the images they have on file. They are only trying to protect themselves from being sued. It does not matter whether or not the image is for a personal cake or a paid cake. It makes perfect business sense, they may lose a customer but save themselves from paying a hefty fine if they get busted.

We are the same "no-way" people at my grocery store. We keep on-hand a list of photographers that allow us to have free reign with our edible printer... and a list of those that say NO and those that say 'just ask first' It seems stupid to say no to me, because if the photog's would let us use it, it gives them free advertising. Go figure.

But, anything like your Harry Potter is protected by copyright, and we won't copy it. And, it's $8 at our store to get a photo made, so $5 is a steal!

You know, with that particular picture it wouldn't be hard to make a stencil and airbrush it. Roland Winbeckler's airbrush book goes into that. It might be an option anyway.
