icon_rolleyes.gif I know that I'm probably the only one on here that's total lost when y'all keep talking about "cake balls." I hate waste and I know that cake balls are made out of cake scraps, but I just don't know what that means.

TIA!!!!!

Using the SEARCH button above and searching cakeballs in the recipe request forum revealed this link to the recipe

Do a search for "cake balls". There are lots of threads on them. Also, if you look in the recipes section there is a recipe for them. Basically, you just take your scraps, add a little liquid ( I use non-dairy creamer), mix, scoop them into balls, freeze, and cover with candy melts. They are yummy!

Here is a post about cake balls and gives you many different ways to make them. They are delish and very versatile in flavorings and binders. Look very nice to bring to a party and easy to make.

cake ball (kak baul) n:
a fiendishly clever delivery device that disguises insane amounts of fat and calories in a small spherical shape. Designed for maximum portability and eatability, cake balls are produced in flavor combinations designed to insure addiction and non-stop eating upon just one bite. Side effects of cake balls include clothes that shrink along w/ buttons that pop and zippers that won't zip, friends asking "what did you say? I can't understand you when you have your mouth full", as well as being compared to either the Pillsbury doughboy, the Michelin man or, in extreme cases, the Goodyear blimp and a tendency to be called rude for not sharing (mine! all mine!)

Doug, you crack me up...literally...I've just been put back together by my children...like a big giant puzzle...ha, ha, ha.

I haven't tried cake balls yet...probably because I'm trying to loose some unneeded pounds.

You might also try searching the forums under "cake truffles" or "cake bites". They are all basically the same thing. And, as Doug mentioned, all are very fiendishly addictive.
I got a great recipe idea from yellowjacket on this forum and she uses crumbled cake with a few tablespoons (to taste) of flavoring and melted chocolate to form the balls. You let that set up and then dip them in melted chocolate again. Absolutely divine!!!!
I made some with Kahlua liquor in them and they were soooo good. They tasted even better the day after when all of the flavors had time to marry together. There are some other recipes that use leftover buttercream icing as well but I haven't tried those just yet.
Either way, you can't go wrong and you will love them! thumbs_up.gif

Toristreats....I was the same way....thought dark chocolate was yucky...but once I went through menopause it was like my taste changed. Dark choc was so much richer and more satisfying. You must be one of those young whippersnappers...lol...and have a long way to go til you are "FREE!".... icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

I guess you could call me a young wippersnapper, but after a day of taking care of my kids I don't feel so young. Yes, I do have a while to go before I'm free.
