When you make a fondant cake...say a round layered...do you have to make the edges round so the fondant doesn't crack??

nope! You can have straight edgesicon_smile.gif Fondant should be pliable enough not to crack. You can test this by rolling some into a ball and then squeezing that ball between your thumb and index fingericon_smile.gif If it stays smooth you are ready to go! ( If it cracks keep kneading!)..
