BJ----Your rose blew me away. I would swear that it was a real rose. Could you IM me directions as to how you did this?
Thanks, Suzanne
I've got a couple of questions for all of you who are make such beautiful roses. I haven't taken any classes to learn how, I've just looked a a couple of tutorials but I'm confused about some things. First, when you let them 'dry' for 10 minutes, like the rosemary tutorial says, don't they get too hard and crack when you put them on? And someone said something about splitting the petals, what does that mean? This is such a great post. Thanks for the beautiful pictures you've all posted. Anya, I dream of having my roses look like that!!
BJ & Anya, your roses are fantastic, any help or tips would be appreciated. ![]()
Thanks,

I'm in the process of trying to make a rose for this weekend's cake. You guys make such wonderful roses! I tried making one tonight following the Wilton method ( I only have those cutters) and my rose is really a hopeless case. I think my gumpaste is too soft because it can't keep open once I put the petals in place. ![]()

Thank you so much for all of your compliments! I couldn't have pulled these off without the help I got from this thread. It's nice to have a place where people think outside the Wilton box if you kwim.
I finally got to do my Course 3 cake last night with these roses! I put it in my photos if you guys want to see how it turned out.

Thanks again for all your help!

I just came across this on YouTube.com. It's a video tutorial on making gumpaste roses. Hope it helps somebody. Warning: it's in excrutiating detail. Each one (part 1 and part 2) is just over 9 minutes long.
LOL! I watch that a few weeks ago and yes-VERY detailed.
We can learn a lot from watching her work, but I could teach her a thing or two about video editing!

Yeah, I think she should have been able to do it in one part instead of two, especially at 9 plus minutes each! lol
Hi All! All your roses are awesome looking... so inspired just by looking at it.
Thanks ALL for sharing the links and hope to learn more from them as well as from all of you.
