Hi, I'm from Wetumpka but was born in Maplesville (too long ago to mention)! I took my course from Southern Homes and did some baking for a local Hospice for about 8 months. I don't do baking for resale, just as gifts--but love doing cakes.

Anyone from South Ala? I'm a little west of Mobile.
For you CCer's in B'ham area have you seen the book by Dottie Smith - Cake Expressions. She has Edgars Old Time Bakery. I bought her book and she does beautiful cakes but they aren't over the top. They look do-able. My birthday is this weekend and I think my DH and I may come to stay in B'ham and I would love to visit her shop.

Hey anybody listen to RickandBubba? I have to listen from the internet so I do that while I'm on CC. I love "the two sexiest fat men alive".

I live in Troy, AL. That is about 40 miles south of Montgomery or half way between Montgomery and Dothan. I only do cakes for friends and family. I am in Course 3 of Wilton! Lovin' it! May try it full time one day but just for fun for now!! Have a great day!

OK....I'm not from AL, nor do I live there....YET! My hubbie's family is from Birmingham (Mountainbrook/Homewood area) and we're planning to move South....probably to Birmingham in the next couple of years! We just drove to Destin, FL about a month ago and we always spend the night in Birmingham coming and going....AND I got to meet a fellow CC'er friend (Sugarbakerz) in Montgomery!

Hope to be in your neck of the woods before long!

Milllbrook for me, north of montgomery icon_smile.gif Moving down to Headland, near Dothan in July with the hopes of opening a shop icon_smile.gif

For you licensed AL bakers, what did it take? I know I will need a separate kitchen but how strict is that? I haven't been able to get anyone in AG to answer the phones because they are always out on inspections, so any advice and tips would be wonderful icon_smile.gif
