I had a cake disaster but, wanted to know what I did wrong? I was making the watermelon cake from the wilton book (not sure which) and when I leveled the top, I noticed that my chocolate chips all settled at the bottom! AAAaaaah! Are you suppose to use micro-chocolate chips? Were they too heavy?

this works for fruits and nuts...maybe it will work for chocolate too...except omit the warming part icon_confused.gif

"To prevent nuts and fruits from sinking to the bottom of a cake during baking, warm them a bit in the oven and toss them with flour. Shake off excess flour before mixing them into the batter."

Diane's right. Toss the chips with some flour before adding to the batter. Also, you'll have better luck with mini chips than full size ones.

Oh no My watermellon cake is in the oven right now. I hope the chips don't sink to the bottom. I was to bring 3 watermellons to a 4th of July picnic. I bought 2 watermellons and the cake will be a surprise "watermellon". My grand daughter tasted the cake batter and said" it dons't taste like watermellon" She is 3 and so funny. She has looked through the 2008 year book about 10 times looking for the " girl" cakes. I think I have a little cake decorator here
Did you have any other problems with the watermellon cake? icon_smile.gif
