Hi all,
I would just like confirmation.
Do I use water or royal icing to apply fondant cutouts to a fondant cake? icon_rolleyes.gif

I use vanilla extract, or any extract.

You can use just a tiny bit of water, or you can use piping gel. Also, if the fondant cutouts are "fresh" you can just lay them on the fondant-covered cake and they will usually "stick" without doing anything further!

hi, you can also use any form of white alcohal. it evaporates like the extracts without eating away at the fondant. water does not evaporate fast so it dissolves the sugar creating pits.

Water....!!! Get a little art brush to use with your fondant.

Just a little water applied with a paintbrush--keep it away from the edges, if possible because when you press it down, the water can seep out if too near the edge.

If you get a drop of water somewhere you don't want it, just dab it while wet with a bit or cornstarch and the watermark will disappear.
