Try sending the person who made the cake a pm or post a link to the picture of the cake and someone might be able to give you ideas on how to do it.

When you bring up her picture of the cake, read the comments. It'll tell you how she did the stripes on the sides and where to get the foil, etc. I'm sure if you emailed her she could help you.

She hasn't posted to the board in almost a year so it's no wonder she didn't answer your pm. From what she said on the pic she:

cut/carved the cake from a 2 layer 9x13 (so it's not a huge cake)
she piped the stripes on the side one at a time then smoothed them with a spatula
the rest she probably decorated free hand

hope this helps you!

Here are a few Q's and A's.. from the comments:
Q:Very creative. How did you get the sides striped

A:Thanks. I just piped lines all around and then smoothed them with a spatula. Pretty easy actually.

Q:soooo cute! Did you use a special pan??? Love the sides!

A: Thank you. I cut it out from a double stacked 1/4 sheet.

Q: Love the cake. Hope to try a make one like it soon!! where did you get the foil from or how did you get it to look like that?

A: Thanks. I got it from a cake supply store. you can also get it at Michaels in the floral dep

GOOD LUCK!
