I am making this buttercream cake with fondant figurines on it.... The only issue is I am giving the customer her cake on a Thursday and she is not serving it til Sat. I have some flat fondant dolphins, coral reefs and
3-d dolphin figurines sitting on top...... Can she put that in the fridge? Is there anything that will happen to the figurines if they go in the fridge?

I know that you can't put a covered fondant cake in the fridge but is it ok for bc covered with just some fondant decor to go in the fridge?

Fondant can be refrigerated. There is a risk of condensation when you removed it from the fridge. If the room is not hot, the condensation will be minimal. If the figures are very dry when you add them, the risk is very slight.

Thank you for responding so fast...... I have made all the fondant stuff last night and I do not have to put the decor on til two the following Weds... So hopefully they are very very dry!

I've had this same issue come up also. The only problem I've had is as JoAnnB said, condensation. It just looks shiny-- but after sitting out for a while, it usually goes back to normal.

I made a cake with fondant accents with fillings that required to be refrigerated (if you want to see the amount of accents used it was Emma's Baptism cake in my pics). It was during the winter so I kept it in the garage - better than a fridge, much bigger. icon_wink.gif I had no problems. I had used Satin Ice.

I contacted Satin Fine Foods and asked about refrigerating a cake covered in Satin Ice and they replied back that you can. I have since done so without a problem (pink Gift Wrapped cake).

Thank you for the compliments. The neopolitan cake was a big hit!!! With Emma's cake, I was originally going to cover it in Fondant, but since I didn't think I could refrigerate it, I decided on chancing it only with fondant accents.

I can't wait to see pictures of your cake. I love dolphins!!
