Cd type disk, depends on the type of burner you have if you use RW or R. Do not use DVD disks, those are only for video files, I'm sure it would burn but it's more expensive so a waste when it's not necessary.

I use the cheap cd-r disks for all images and document files, never a problem. Good luck!

if you are wanting them for use on your computer I would use the CD. CD's are cheaper, I always use them when possible.

It all depends on the size and quantity you have. A CD holds up around 800 megs of stuff and DVDs single layer (4.5 gigs, or 4500 megs) and double layers (9 gigs, or 9000 megs) since some pictures are aroung .2 to .5 megs, depends really on how many you have!

My hubby works in computer stuff so that's why I know.

Thanks for the tips.

Brendansmum.. By the way, I love your avatar.

Pootchi... I have over 1000 images saved.
How many do you think would fit on a cd-r disc and how many on a dvd-r disc. I know dvd-r disc are more expensive but that also depends on how many cd-r I would have to use.

Also is this the same principle if I want to make a disc with my pictures that I take with my digital camera of my family and friends. I have alot of pictures of them that are saved on my computer and I would hate to loose them if something happened to my computer.

Thank you all so much!!!!

If your pictures are all in the same folder, look at the size of the folder. It will tell you what size of disc you need. Besides, if you can use cd-rw or dvd-rw, you can add more pictures as soon as you get more of them. if it's just cd-r or dvd-r it's more difficult.

You can do the same with family pictures, you can divide them into folders, or maybe have a cd for one theme a cd for another one.

have fun!

Hi! I use a CD-R to save my photos and things. For extra safety for my cake pictures, even though I use a digital camera, I download my pictures to our local Kroger store to have them printed. You can also create a photo album on-line. I probably wouldn't want to save family photos on their site, since you never know when some weirdo will break into a web-site, but I thought it would be ok for cakes.

Good luck with your project! It reminds me that I need to send some pictures to be developed.-Debra
