I am having a hard time getting the buttercream black. Help! How do I get black instead of gray?

Many start with chocolate so they don't need so much black. I'm not sure what type of black you are using but the Americolor Super Black works great. Need a lot less than wiltons to get black. Also, with dark colors you want to let it sit a while as it will darken as it sits. you may also want to put a dab on a piece of wax paper and see what it "drys" to.

Starting with brown really helps (choclate BC)? then add black. It just takes alot of dye

Im having trouble tinting the primary colors i wanted it to be but they turned out to be pastel colors when I want it to be real blue not light blue. How can I make it dark blue. the gel i bought was from wilton at micheals is it because of that brand or what. What am I doing wrong? GRRRRRR

If you want it dark blue, you have to use A LOT of color.

If you are trying to achieve a dark blue, try Americolor's Royal Blue. You will have to use quite a bit though. Good luck! icon_smile.gif
