HELP !!! I am so nervous, I am doing my first tiered cake for a bridal shower this weekend. I am so scared that I am going to mess up !! icon_cry.gif I am stacking it, when I do that do I cut the cardboard to just fit the bottom of the cake to keep it from showing when it is stacked? Thanks for your help !!!

The board on the upper tier should be the same size as the cake. When you put the cake on the board, there is generally a tiny bit of board showing. Your icing on the cake should cover that little bit of board.

The best way to get a good result stacking, is to have a border at the base of the tiers. Depending on your design.

When you stack them, there are often finger marks on the lower tier and at the edge of the upper tier. A spatula will help.

Ultimately, it is really easy to pipe on a simple border AFTER the cakes are stacked. There are different opinions about stacking before or after delivery. I like to stack them after, but if it is just two tiers, and the route is not lumpy gravel, before, works fine.
