I have a cake due in 2 weeks and am planning on making fondant figurines, chairs, etc. How far in advance can I make these?

You can start any time. they will dry, but not rock hard. Just remember some blues and lavender will fade, so protect it from light.

I would start very soon!

I waited till the cake was due in a week, thinking that surely a week was long enough for the fondant to dry but it did not. I used MMF. So if you are using MMF, definitely start right away!

Good luck!

I would say if you are going to have figures sitting on fondant chairs, start with the chairs. Also I would be inclined to add about a walnut sized piece of flowerpaste/gumpaste to your fondant to give them more stability.

I read on one of these posts that they use a dehydrator to quick-dry their fondant decorations, etc.... That is pure genius! And I just gave ours to the Goodwill since I had yet to use it......cripes icon_cry.gif
