Hi I just made a cake for a little friend. It is pink fondant but I decided for the border to do fondant balls in pink/purple, the cake has pink and purple flowers also the cake itself it's pink but I was able to stick the flowers w/ vanilla extract but the ball I am afraid they might not really stick and roll off I tried some stiff icing but it shows. I have seen cakes with balls on the border but how do I do this with out a surprise will they roll off or move or shoud I wait a while til they dry?

Vanilla extract, water, or thinned corn syrup will all work fine for the ball decorations. Stick them on, and give them time for the moisture to dry. It should be fine.

Where are you trying to put them? As a border at the base, along the board, or around the top edge?

At the base, I generally put a dot of royal icing underneath to shore it up...

I use an artist brush (cheap kind) and just paint a very little water to the ball border and just place them up against one another and against the cake... it works like glue and you shouldn't have any problems with them coming loose.
