I'm out of clear vanilla. Can anyone tell me what the repercussions are if I use regular vanilla? I know the taste will be the same but I'm wondering what type of affect it will have on color? Can I still achieve red, white and blue?

If you use regular buttercream you usually have a bit of an ivory tint to the icing. So it won't be pure white.

Yes, red, white, blue are still possible. The white will be more creamy white, not white-white. With red and blue it should look perfectly fine.

i always use regular vanilla in my BC. usually i have a yellow cast to it anyway from the butter, so if i want it bright white i add white americolor. so i figured theres no point in wasting money on clear vanilla, when i can just use regular for everything.
