When selling a cake that contains columns, do you expect to get the columns back or do you charge like you won't get them back?

Did that make sense? icon_confused.gif

Depends. If you can easily replace them, include the cost and forget it. Sometimes, the plates, columns etc are difficult to replace. In that case charge a large deposit, and get the stuff back.

I generally figure the price of them into what I charge for the cake, since it's more trouble than it's worth to me to get them back.

I charge a deposit in the replacement amount (plus shipping) for any stands or pillars or whatever. They can choose to return it for the $$ (less the 10% weekly rental fee) or toss it and call it a purchase.
