Is there a large cake leveller that's better than the Wilton one but not as expensive as the Agbay one? I'm sure the Agbay one it great, but I don't even sell my cakes so I can't justify spending that much money on one!
I have the Wilton one, and I used it once and it worked great. The next time I tried to use it the blade must have been tilted or something because it cut from the middle of the cake to the top. I tried to correct it, and then it cut from the middle of cake to the bottom. There was no saving the cake and I had to rebake!
Thanks!
I haven't found one. I have had good luck with the large Wilton leveler.
What would be the best bet: find a 'handyman' and have him create a similar adjustable cutter using a wire instead of a blade. The smaller leveler works better because of the wire.
you can always use the toothpicks and dental floss method.
I do like the small Wilton leveller and use it on most of my cakes. I might have to see if someone can create a big one for me that works the same way...I'll have to find a handyman first!
Using the large leveller while the cake is still in the pan sounds like a great idea. But I don't usually need to level my cakes, but I like to tort them.
Thanks for the help!
Thanks Leta. That sounds interesting. I'll have to look into. I wonder if anyone here has tried it.
