I want to get ahead of the game this week and was thinking of frosting an order of 50 cupcakes and put them in the freezer for two days. (inside cake boxes) I freeze cakes all the time, but never iced ones. I dont have room in my fridge for all those cupcakes! can I do this? Will the swirls of the icing hold up ok and with no plastic wrap on them or anything, will they obsorb freezer smells?

They will definitely attract odors, and the quality will diminish.

If you can pack them in airtight containers it would help.

I usually freeze the cups first then put them in a box, cover with saran. I then completely wrap the box in saran to keep any odors from getting in. I only freeze them long enough for the bc to get firm before I put the saran on.
