Where do you get your cake side embroidery patterns?

Do you freehand them or somehow mark the sides of your cake with the pattern?

I'm going to be doing the embroidery on a tiered buttercream cake.

Thanks
Debbie

..when I did mine, I started out by using the flower makers from my gumpaste kit .....just pressed them lightly to make an outline. After doing a few, I just do them freehand now. It is a lot easier to do brush embroidery if the cake is eye level!

Thanks MrsMissey! I need to do a small embroidered pattern over a ribbon on wedding cakes for this weekend and was hoping to find patterns just for ideas. The tiers will be 12", 10", 9" and 6".

thanks!
Debbie
