I need to do a jungle baby shower cake but the problem I'm running into is this is the wall mural they are doing . .

http://www.swdecorating.com/default.asp?fm=/murals_home.asp|

I want to keep the dark jungle atmosphere but incorporate a baby shower. All ideas are welcome. This cake is for July 25th and is my gift to the mom-to-be.

TIA
Nikki

I looked at the link and I'm assuming the mural they are using is the 'Jungle dreams' ? Maybe you could make a small two tier w/ all of the dark and intricate details but then have a baby (made from fondant or gumpaste?) on top (like in a basket or on a leaf or something).

To me, the mural looks more like an island or beach theme. Did they specifically ask for a jungle theme cake or do you think that's what they want based on the mural?

You could put a little baby lion sleeping in the jungle (like the song) and make it look like night time somehow with a dark sky and stars. That's the only thing I could think of to tie babyshower and dark jungle together lol. Good luck!

She is actually doing the baby's room in jungle. I was doing a little research also and came up with this idea.

1/2 sheet cake with a small version of Debbie Brown's tree cake in one corner, covered with leaves and vines and having a few jungle animals around the cake. Also on the other side of the cake put a small pond using blue piping gel and surrounded with chocolate rocks. Then to tie in the baby theme add a baby of some sort, human or animal, right in front of the tree so it looks like the tree is watching over the baby.

What do you think?

TIA

trees and parrots would be really cute, that is going to be a busy nursery but should keep little one quite excited!

When I went to the website I keep looking for another one because the Jungle Dream was really dark, there is another one called Jungle Boogie it looks better suited for a baby's room. Did mommy-to-be give you the named of the mural. I think the 2nd picture of possible cakes look closer.

I like your idea, pumpkinroses. Maybe baby jungle animals of fondant, that could "soften" the dark jungle atmosphere. I love jungle cakes, I can't wait to see what you come up with. The jungle cake that I did, ends up being probably my favorite that I have done and most enjoyable to do. Let us know how it turns out.

pumpkinroses - in my photos, there's one I did for a jungle themed baby shower. It is zebra icing on the cake, white choc candy toys, pacifier, etc which have leopard spots on them (this was specific to the mom's instruction). I just bought a cupie-doll for the baby, because I haven't mastered the art of sculpturing from fondant or gumpaste!

HTH!

I did a sort of Jungle themed baby shower cake. What I did was take images of the jungle bedding they were using in the nursery and made edible images, then wrapped them around the cake! It turned out to be really cute, and it was very special to her because it was so personalized and matched the baby's room. You could use the image of the mural to do something similar!

Thanks everyone for your help. I didn't see the Jungle Boogie one when I had looked. She just told me the Jungle one. I'll check with her and make sure. It not due until the 25th so I'll post when complete.

thanks
Nikki
