I have my first actual cake order thumbs_up.gif I'm only in Course 2 but I'm going for it. They want a cake shaped like a large dog bone.

I figure that my 2 options are:

1] use 2 heart pans for the sides and cut off the points, then use part of an 8 x 8 square for the center

2] bake an 11 x 15 cake and carve out the shape icon_surprised.gif

I think the first plan is best, what do you guys think?

The first plan except instead of the 8 x 8 square I think I'd use a loaf pan.

Oh I didn't even think of that icon_redface.gif I was just going to carve the middle section from an 8 x 8. Thanks!!

I like the heart pan idea also. That way you know the ends are the same size and shape. Great idea on the loaf pan...

Here is the cake....I used the sweetheart pan for the ends, and did end up using 6 inches of the 8 x 8 pan. [ But I'm sure the loaf would have been just as good ] It was fun to deliver, the client really liked it thumbs_up.gif
