I just did my second batch of MMf it was not as soft as the one I made last night I did stir the MMs every 30 seconds and I poured white liquid into my well of sifted PS. I kneaded it until it was not sticky anymore but still had some small PS lumps in the MMf. Will some of thel umps go away when I get ready to use it ? I will have knead it anyways well I don't know why the lumps I sifted the sugar this morning as well. Anyways I opened the batch from last night and it is stiff but not as stiff as the Wilton fondant you know like modelmagic almost, my MMF from last night I was able to roll a little bit just too see if it would at all and it did. Will it help to add Gum Tex when I get ready to use or better to use the microwave thank you everyone for all your help. I will let you know tonight which fondant I ended up using if my MMF works I will use it if it's bad enough I can't use I will use Wilton's for my cake and then I will post the picture for you all to see. Hopefully it looks better than all of my cakes, I still can't get a cake to look better than my 7 year old DH's tree cake LOL

If you likve in a humid environment, sifting in the morning will allow lumps to form during the day. I don't sift, but I do whisk the sugar well before I add it to fondant.

There should NOT be lumps in the fondant. If there are, they will still be there later. You could pick them out if they won't knead in.

If the fondant is too soft, it may not have enough sugar. you can roll it out a bit, sift on a bit more sugar, lightly, then knead it.

Gumtex will speed the drying, and make it a little stronger when it dries. But it probably should not be used to cover the cake. Better for drapes or swags.

Don't use gumtex if you're covering it for a cake. Gumtex is only added when needing mmf to dry hard.

If you can use the MMF, use it, cuz wilton fondant is nasty lol

Thank you for warning me about the Gum Tex!!!! I did not know that although I guess I hope my instructor would have saved me too. I have not added anything to it my instructor should know how much PS to add once I get there and we have a microwave so we can use if I need it for the fondant I will try to knead the little lumps I sifted right before I used it I was still sifting when the MMs were atill in the microwave, may be next time I should add less PS at a time. I thought I added little by little may be less, then Gosh I can't wait to get back and shopw the pictures of my cake!!!!! Wilton fondant or MMF I guess I just want to get it over with.
