Wanted to thank everyone on CC for inspirations and help, from fondant recipes, advice on writing on sides of cakes and attaching ribbons on cakes. I can't remember specific members -- was on so many forums threads, photos, etc. -- heh, I even got lost navigating this site ![]()

I made a wedding cake for the local county fair. See my photos (can't figure out how to insert a picture here-still a newbie) The calla lillies are gum paste and the cake is covered in MMF. The cake is stryofoam as rules required. Do you believe the day I made this it was 114 and we have NO AC!!!. I was definitely beginning to wonder if I would ever work with fondant again.
This was only my second attempt to working with fondant. It took six trys
just to get the top layer covered.
I got Grand Champion and Best of Show for Decorated Cakes. I also entered by tiger lillies (see photos) and received Reserve Grand Champ on those. There were three other wedding cakes and one other gum paste flower arrangements entered in the fair - so I did have some competition.
This site is great
. Thanks to a local cake decorating friend that pointed me this way during a class we took together. Again thanks for the great site and all of the members who are so eager to lend a helping hand - even if you're not aware you might be.
