I mean, candy-melt coated cake balls? I'm thinking of making cake ball filled rubber duckies for a shower that's in 3 weeks. I don't want to be doing it right before the shower because I'm doing a cake. I bought a ducky candy mold that is huge...it would take so much chocolate. I thought I could do the shell and fill it with cake ball mixture, put together, and then freeze...what do you think?
tia!

thanks! blech, mold!
I could just take them out right before I go to the shower.
Should I leave a ventilation hole on the bottom of the duck? The candy mold is actually a lollipop one, but it's so huge, no one is going to want to eat a large solid candy melt duck...yuck! LOL That's why I thought of putting cake inside!
The only problem I have had with freezing them completely done is condensation. They get sticky on the outside.
I have done cakeballs in a mold just like you described. It was a heart shaped silicon pan.
I usually make out my cakeballs freeze individually then pack in a freezer gallon ziplock bag --dip as needed.
For large candy molds I usually fill with a mixture of 50/50 marshmallow cream and melted white choc. or reese cup filling.
