Doll Cake - Should I Dowel It?
Decorating By projectqueen Updated 12 Aug 2006 , 3:41am by projectqueen
I'm putting a doll cake on top of a 12" round.
I'm going to put the dowels in the 12" to support the cake board of the doll cake but do I need to put a center dowel down through the doll into the 12" as well? (The 12" round is 4" high)
I don't want to if I don't have to but I don't want it to go flying off either. I only have to drive it a short distance.
Do you think I need the extra dowel? (The doll is a pick, not a full size).
When in doubt dowel~ That's what I always say~ Heat, a bump, a turn could make the doll fall right off then you'd have a mess~ So dowel just to be on the safe side~ ![]()
Has anyone ever had a doll cake fall off?
I hope not. ![]()
I'm getting ready to put this thing together and the pick is already inserted in the doll part. I'm sure I could pull it out and fix the icing if I have to, in order to insert a full dowel, but I don't want to if I don't have to.
Any other opinions? I have one yes and one no so far. ![]()
The doll cake is about 6" high and about 8" round at the bottom. It's going to sit in the middle of the round cake. It's the round cake that is 4" high, not the doll.
