These always seem to be SOOOO expensive - at least the nice looking ones. Where do you all buy yours?

Also, when you do a tiered cake, do you use a cake board w/ contact paper over it, or do you use a cake plate? I haven't been able to find ones w/out that stupid ruffled edge.... and I don't want the cake plate to actually show..... so what do you do?

There are several options for the ruffled plates. One way is to use a decorated cake circle (and protected with clear contact paper) over a plate slightly smaller. Example: a 7" ruffled plate under an 8" board for a 6" cake.

Witon is now making smooth round separator plates.

Start clipping the weekly coupons for Michael's and AC Moore, that's how I usually get my stuff.
