I just melted 2 cups of butter to use in a decorated cookie recipe but found that I don't have enough sugar to make the recipe right now. I will have to make the recipe in the afternoon instead. The butter is already softened and partially melted from the microwave (it was frozen).

Is the butter fine to use later on? Should I remelt it a bit then to soften before using if it is all hardened up in a mess? I have covered the container it is in with foil and am going to refrigerate it. This just happened.

Any experience with this situation? Thank you in advance. icon_smile.gif

The butter will be fine to use later.
I cna't tell if you need the butter to be soft or melted for your recipe, but you can do to it whatever you would have originally if the butter came out of the fridge.
Hope that helps!

Thank you for your reply. I just now used it and it worked out well. I needed the butter to be a bit soft and so I had originally microwaved it since it had been in the freezer.

Thanks so much! icon_smile.gif
