How Well Will A Creamcheese Frosting Hold Up?

the recipe im using is the same as the Wilton buttercream but instead of Crisco you use cream cheese, the consistency is the sme but it tastes less sweet. im making a 2 teared bday cake and i will be using cookies in the shape of buildings around the 2nd teared, will the cream cheese frosting hold them in place like a buttercream? this is the first time i am using the cream cheese frosting to decorate other than frost.

It should work fine. Especially if you can keep the cake cool or chilled. The icing is a bit softer, but holding things in place should be no problem.

Baking911 has actually contacted a microbiologist to find out what icings can be left out. There is a thread that the MB actually looks at individual icings to determin if they need refrigeration. It all depends on the sugar content. Icings, even with some milk, including cream cheese, can be left out without refrigeration.
