it is very easy. If you are covering drum, you will have room on the edge for ribbon trim. it adds a very nice finish.

You can roll the fondant out on a plastic surface, clear plastic from the fabric store works great. roll it out fairly thin, and a bit larger than the board.

You can brush the board with a tiny bit of piping gel or thinned corn syrup, just enough to make the board sticky.

flip the fondont over onto the board and use the smoother to press the fondant to the board. using a pizza wheel or a sharp knife, trim the fondant to the edge and smooth. you can also imprint the exposed edges around the cake while the fondant is still soft. HTH

I dampen the board with a wipe of a damp cloth and then place a ball of fondant right in the the middle of the board and then roll it out on the board. Trim the edges and there you go - easy

I also just dampen the board but I ice my board in with the cake. After Ive worked the fondant down the sides i treat the board as an extension of the cake and keep working the fondant over it
