I don't have them, but I've read many comments from those who do, and they just love them....won't stack a cake without them! My impression is that they buy them AFTER a cake disaster, such as leaning, falling, etc. They're expensive, but you can start out with just a few and add to your collection. They also reported wonderful customer service/getting their questions answered.
I hope that someone who has them can respond here.

Use 'em and love 'em!! I wouldn't do a wedding cake without them. I would not recommend using the thin wood dowels (at least not on a large/heavy cake). They're very skinny and if the cake isn't really dense, they could shift in the cake. I do use the Wilton plastic dowels (they're wider) on my other stacked cakes, and they work fine. Stress free are expensive, but you only buy them one time (always charge a deposit on them!!). They're wonderful!

I absolutely love them!! Its the best! I wont use anything else. I used it last weekend for a cake I had to travel 30 miles with. And the cake never budged! And yes I purchased mine AFTER A DISASTER. I never wanted that to happen again.. the only way your cake might not make it in one piece using the Stress Free system is if you were to get in an accident (hopefully not). I am going to purchase another set just to have on hand & if I have 2 cakes needing support.
I think its the best investment I have made for my cakes. Believe me you don't want to see your cake falling apart after all the hard work you put into it.. What a nightmare!

I often use the Wilton plastic dowels, I haven't seen this stress free system. Where would I be able to find it? Does anyone have a link they would like to share?
Thanks icon_eek.gif

I have been using the Stress-Free supports for over a year now, and I won't go back! Fortunately, I have not had a disaster, but I didn't want to wait for that! I recently purchased a second set, so I won't have to use dowels again. I travel with my cakes assembled, and with these supports, I feel very confident, haven't had a mishap yet (I've got to find some wood to knock on!). I know they are expensive, but one failed cake that you don't get paid for would more than make up for the cost!

I recently bought them and I LOVE THEM! I used a label-maker to print, "Please return to NAME. 555-444-3333" on them so that the person can easily remember to get it back to me and has my phone number right there.

I started with the two smallest rings, but I'll add to my collection this summer as I have a 6-tier cake to do in August! Yikes!

What pieces did you ladies start with? I went to the website and was overwhelmed by the choices.

The link for at least one site selling it is:

http://www.weddingcakesupports.com/

The basic set with 5 rings and supports goes for $130 with a couple other sets with more rings above that.

I started with the Professional Set. I ordered legs in 3" 3.5" and 4" lengths. I recently ordered the Starter Set as I find I need the smaller ones most often. I think the Starter Set is a great way to go. I don't think I've ever used the largest disc that came in the Professional Set.

I got the starter set two years ago and it the best cake money I've ever spent! If you do a search in the forums you'll find tons of posts about them.

I was so lucky! I won the professional set at the Oklahoma Sugar Art Show last year and they are wonderful. I did not do well at the conpetition so sort of took it as a sign to continue and my work has improved a lot. The support system takes a lot of the fear out of trying new and cool things. I am going to purchase another set of the small rings this summer as I use them the most icon_biggrin.gif

I just looked at the website and am confused... If the legs are adjustable, then why do they have the different sizes?

They can only be adjusted about 1/4 to 1/2 inch.
