I hate this question, as I know it varies by where you live. But I just LOVe this cake and want to recommend it to a customer who is doing a Super Mario theme. It looks like a lot of fun to do!!

Well I would probably charge around $200. It depends on where you live like you said. You could charge by the slice, like maybe $4 or $5 a slice?

There is another thread called "Just how many DARN tastings are required???? (LONG RANT)" ....
KayDay is making the same cake for a wedding the end of July. Talk to her about her pricing... Hope this helps... I just read that whole thread..

I live in the Northeast and my daughters wedding cake with fondant decorations for about 150 people will probably be around $7.00 a slice - YIKES!!!! this is a wedding splurge!!

I don't think this cake would exist here for anywhere under $200.

$4.00 a slice from a specialty cake person gets you a plain cake with a few scrolls.

I think with all of the fondant detail that $4.00 a serving would be a good price (I figure my servings as 1"x2"x4") I think I would include up to one layer of my everyday fillings in this price also. I use the sleeved fillings and my everyday ones are bavarian creme, Strawberry, raspberry, lemon and choc bavarian

HTH

That is a pretty neat cake.

I start my whimsical cakes at $5 p/s and "shaped" cakes at $6 p/s...this has both.
This also has some very precise sugarwork. When a figure has to look like a character, the work is doubled.

I figure somewhere in the range of $550-$600 based on 90-100 servings.

This sounds harsh, but you know cakes would go for thousands at Duffs, at least start at 575 and work up. It didn't cost a 1$ to pay for all the supplies, and think of future supplies too! Just my input

At the very least $700.00. I would say closer to $1,000. There is a lot of work & detail on that cake.

How many is it going to serve? How big will the tiers be? Is the mushroom on the top cake or made of fondant/gumpaste? What kind of cake will it be made of? What fillings? For that cake I'd charge a minimum 5$ per serving plus ~100$ for the modeling that would have to be done. If it had premium fillings and cake flavors it'd be more per serving. That's a labro intensive cake.. all the fondant work and modeling.. it's such a cool cake though. I'd LOVE it for my birthday.. icon_lol.gif
