I couldnt believe it, when I turned to page 35 of mailbox news july august issue and there is my baby shower cake . I almost had to pick my jaw up off the table. It is the first picture I have ever submitted I never dreamed they would publish it. I feel like a true cake decorator now
Wonderful news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats!!!!!!! Way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh how exciting is that!!! Now you can say you are a featured publicized decorator. Way to go.
Congratulations!! You're cake is adorable. I haven't tried the pregnant belly cake yet - can't wait to!
Flip over to page 41 and you'll see my cake.
Congratulations BrandisBaked I know your on cloud nine I will look at it as soon as I get my copy back . A lady that I am doing a wedding cake for in july has it to show to some people . I really hope this will jumpstart my cake business .
Is there a web site we can see them on? Congratulations to you both, that is really something to be proud of!
The pictures are not on their website... but my cake is also in my gallery ("Best of Show"). I didn't expect it to be there - I was just flipping through and saw it. They had a section covering the winners from the San Diego cake show.
How cool is that? How exciting! Congratulations!! I'll definitely have to look tonight when I get home. Now I can say - I know this decorator, we go WAY back! LOL Congrats!!!!
SugarBakerz Mailbox News is a cake decorators magazine my picture is in my photo gallery its the pregnant belly cake.
I saw that cake and it definitely deserved rave reviews, it is GOR-GE-US! How can you order that mag.. is it worth ordering? Just thought I would ask those of you who seem to like it ?
Yeah ! I wanna know about it too! Me too! Me too!
BTW SugarBakerz - your avatar photo is DARLING!
Those are both great cakes!!! Is the tutorial on pg. 24 from someone on here? I know I've seen the cake on here, but I can't find it.
I think you can order a copy or maybe as a back issue . I think the website is americancakedecorating.com they publish mailbox news as well as american cake decorating magazines . I have subscriptions to both magazines and I love them American cake decorating is more on the professional side and mailbox news is mostly home decorators like me . I think you would love them both they are a little pricey but worth it I think .
okie dokie, i am sold.... thanks for the heads up.... hopefully mine will be in the mail soon
Congratulations! Be sure to cut it out and frame it!
BrandisBaked..............I remember seeing yours at the SD show. Stunning! Were you the one who posted earlier about overhearing two people talking about it, stating that the figures couldn't possibly have been made by you/be edible, they were purchased (or something like that??)? I would take that as a compliment---it showss great skill!

Yep. I was pretty cheesed about that... It was my first cake competition, and to stand there listening to people talking trash about my work really turned me off. I didn't think I'd ever want to enter another competition again (but I'm going to Tulsa in September anyway. I'll show them! LOL!)
