I'm making gumpaste stars and I'm going to luster dust them and stand them up on top of cupcakes. Will they stay in place by themselves or should I attach to sticks; will toothpicks be secure enough? How do I make mmf accents a little more shiny; way back, I thought I read a post about a glaze? TIA!

It really depends how big and thick the gumpaste stars are (or if they will be supported by BC on the back, if your cupcakes are BC iced). When in doubt, you can always attach them to wires or toothpicks so they stand up on their own.

I agree with Miriel....I would personally attach them with wire or a toothpick to play it safe. This way you also don't have to worry about them tipping over if you need to transport them to another location.

You can use Luster dust on mmf accents to make them shiny.

I've made baseballs and soccer balls out of MMF and let it dry, then just stuck them on the cupcake and they were fine.

If you mix lustre dust with confectioner glaze instead of alcohol, it paints on like varnish. Another way is to dust your accents and brush over with a coat of glaze. Both effects are good. thumbs_up.gif
