I was just wondering if anyone could give me directions on how to make a cupcake cake or let me know where there is a tutorial. It looks fairly simple, I'm just wondering what does the icing consistancy have to be, & is there a trick to spreading the icing on the cupcakes. Thanks for any tips and insight on this really cute idea!! icon_lol.gif

I've done a few cupcake cakes, and I just put them nestled together in rows of 5 each with 4 rows (you can do whatever you feel comfortable with), and just use my icer tip and make large C's to frost the outer edge cupcakes, then lay down strips of icing across the top from edge to edge lengthwise. I then use my bowl scraper (you can use whatever you like) and smooth the top out. I use my 2D tip, or large star tip (like a 21 or 32) to make W's (connecting to the next "W")on each outer cupcake for my border. It's really easy and fun. Takes aobut 5 min'. or so to decorate altogether.

icon_eek.gif Hello.......I have a question.....when your icing these little guys, and I saw the tutorial, won't they come apart sorta even though you put a good amount of icing down?? And you put a big glob of icing on ??

Actually, no. The frosting works really well to kind of glue or hold them all together, assuming you don't "muscle" them around when you're smoothing them out, and I mean really letting them have it. icon_wink.gif As with any cake, you should use appropriate cake boards and transport them with care.
