This GODZILLA cake took me 8 hours to make and on my way to deliver it a car pulled out in front of me and i had to slam on brakes. the top two layers slid forward and cracked the icing( I was feeling some road rage at this point) I thought it was a total loss but I took a deep breath said a little prayer and leaned the entire cake to one side and shook the two layers back in place and did some touch up and it actually recovered. click on the link to the cake and tell me what you think.

this is how godzilla was born. I started by stacking (3) 1/4 sheet yellow cakes on top of eachother with buttercream between each layer. then i used a sharp knife and just started carving. I printed out several pictures of godzilla off the internet to go by. after i got the shape I iced the whole thing down with buttercream and smoothed it out. then i used a piping bag and 1/4 inch round tip to add all the detail work. Next i airbrushed the whole thing with a mixture of forest green and warm brown americolor. then i rolled the teeth out of gumpaste and set them in place. The fins on the back are buttercrisp cookies I found in the specialty food section at Harris Teeter (grocery store here in charlotte N.C) airbrushed dark green. i set the godzilla head on a 1/2 sheet chocolate cake covered in B.C and airbrushed blue.
Wow! He looks fantastic! I couldn't tell there had almost been a disaster. ![]()
