Okay, I know you all must have answered this question a hundred times before but I am new to this site (this week in fact) and don't know where to find the answer.

1. I am making my MMF superman cape tonight and his face pieces but am assembeling the cake Friday, can I add them on Friday to the buttercream cake?

2. How do I add them if they get too hard? Is it okay if they harden?

3. Should i just wait to make them on Friday when I need them for the cake?

4. After the whole cake is done what do I do with it? cover it with something or can I just sit it out on the counter? The party is on Saturday and I can't put it in the fridge, no space there.

HELP!!!!!

The fondant and cake will be fine on the counter, as long as the cake does not have perishable icing or filling.

The cape will be fine on the buttercream, and you should be able to put it on anytime.

JoAnn,
Its buttercream filling so it should be fine I probably won't even finish till late in the night anyway so it won't be out on Saturday for that long.

Will the MMF get really hard and break? Should I make two capes tonight?

Unless you use a filling or an icing that requires refigeration, you can leave it out in an air conditioned environment for a couple of days until you deliver the cake or the customer picks the cake up. If you use buttercreme icing under your MMF, it will keep the cake sealed and fresh. I've done this many times and the cake stays fresh and moist .. hth icon_smile.gif

Thanks SO much for the info! I was hoping it would be as simple as that. Im currently taking the Wilton 3 class and our final session is tomorrow night. Since my family has basically banned me from leaving any more cakes with them (they can't help but eat them) i'd like to bring this one to work on Monday, so it should work perfectly if I finish it up Saturday and then just keep it cool until monday morning!
